Database
The database is intended to gain insight into the reported side effects to Lareb. Before viewing the information in our database, it is important that you read the following restrictions and comments. This database is not a substitute for professional medical advice.
Side effects
A report in the database does not necessarily mean there is a connection between the complaint and the drug or vaccine. It is a suspicion of the reporter that the drug or vaccine might be involved in the complaints of the users of the drug or vaccine.
Some drugs or vaccines are much more widely used than others. The number of reports says nothing about the risk of occurrence or getting an ADR. Because of underreporting, it is not possible to calculate incidence rates from the data in the database.
For a proper understanding of a report you must consider the condition for which the drug or vaccine was prescribed. Some medicines are only used when someone is seriously ill. Possible side effects of a drug or vaccine should be weighed against the benefits by the physician. The risk of an adverse reaction increases when more drugs are used simultaneously.
Data from the database may be used only after explicit approval of the Netherlands Pharmacovigilance Centre Lareb. The database contains reports only of drugs registered in the Netherlands.
The database is checked weekly for possible double reports. It is not always possible to detect duplicate messages, such as incomplete documentation in the original reports. It is possible that your report is not visible in our database, because your patient or healthcare professional also made a report to us. It is also possible that Lareb already has processed the reports, but not yet included in the database. These reports are added in a subsequent update.
Attention!
It is not easy to interpret or translate results and information in the database to your own situation. Never customize the use of your product yourself. Always discuss your symptoms with the doctor or pharmacist, who know your personal situation and know what other medicines you use and can best advise you what to do.
For technical reasons it is not possible to show notifications including:
- Pharmaceutical products that are specially prepared by the pharmacy;
- Products that have no code, such as homeopathy, phyto-therapeutic agents and unregistered drugs.
